  • One of the fundamental problems of Islamic Education is the professionalism of Islamic Teachers. Indicators include the habit of copying learning programs, the application of learning methods that are minimal variation, the mastery of religious material is still partial, the low interest in reading, the low utilization of ICT as a medium of learning, and so on. Among the factors causing it is not maximal implementation of academic supervision and appearance of the principal leadership style which tend to monotone. To improve and develop the professionalism of Islamic Teachers, it is necessary to provide guidance through good academic supervision and varied and effective leadership style treatment by the principal. This study aims to determine the influence of: (1) academic supervision on the professionalism of Islamic Teachers of the state junior high school in Tegal; (2) the principal's leadership style on the professionalism of Islamic Teachers of the state junior high school in Tegal; and (3) academic supervision and leadership style of principals simultaneously to the professionalism of Islamic Teachers of the state junior high school in Tegal. This study was designed as a survey research that explains the phenomenon (explanatory research) with correlation approach. The population in this study is all Islamic Teachers from all Junior High Schools in Tegal, amounting to 38 (thirty eight) teachers. The results obtained in this study indicate that: (1) there is influence of academic supervision on the professionalism of Islamic Teachers of the state junior high school in Tegal equal to 77,9%; (2) the principal leadership style has an influence on the professionalism of Islamic Teachers of the state junior high school in Tegal equal to 23,8%; (3) there is influence of academic supervision and leadership style of principals simultaneously on the professionalism of Islamic Teachers of the state junior high school in Tegal is 88,2%. Based on the results of the analysis can be concluded that the academic supervision and leadership style of principals can be used as a predictors to improve the professionalism of Islamic Teachers of the state junior high school in Tegal.
