- This study aims to examine the effect of financial literacy and industrial environment on improving the performance of SMEs in East Java. The sample used in this study was 177 UKM Managers. Data analysis techniques in this study are descriptive analysis and statistical analysis. The results provide evidence that bookkeeping literacy, debt literacy, budgeting literacy and the industrial environment simultaneously have a significant effect on improving the performance of SMEs in East Java. Bookkeeping literacy partially has a significant negative effect on improving the performance of SMEs in East Java. Debt Literacy, Budgeting Literacy, and the Industrial Environment are significantly positive towards improving the performance of SMEs in East Java.
