EFL Teachers’ Challenges on Teaching Online Using MOODLE at SMP Negeri 1 Kota Serang

- The objective of this study to determine the challenges of teachers in online learning using Moodle and students' perceptions of using Moodle during online learning. The method in this study uses a mixed - methods. Qualitative data is in the form of interview results, and quantitative data is in questionnaire results. Interviews were conducted with the teachers of class XIII and IX SMP Negeri 1 Serang. The sample used is 45 students (M= 22 F= 23). The study results show that teachers have several challenges in teaching online, such as; Participants' knowledge of the use of Moodle, student monitoring, scoring as student feedback, and teacher difficulties in preparing lesson plans. This study also found the strategies to solve the problems, such as; giving socialization, giving the assignment to monitor the student. This study also shows that students' perceptions of Moodle-based e-learning as an online learning medium for English subjects at SMP Negeri 1 Serang are classified as Medium with a tendency rate of 76%.
