  • This research designed to find out the effectiveness of using chain picture in teaching speaking skills. The research conducted based on the main problems: 1) How is the students' skills in speaking English at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Kota Serang? 2) How is the effectiveness of using chain Picture in teaching speaking at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 5 Kota Serang?. This research oriented the following aims: 1) To know the students' skills in speaking at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Kota Serang. 2) To know the effectiveness of using chain picture in teaching speaking at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Kota Serang. The writer used quasi experiment. To answer the questions, the writer collected the spread of data from 72 students spread in two classes, one class as the experimental class and another one as the control class, by applying experimental research method. The population is the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Kota Serang year 2016/2017, while class XI IPA 5 as the experimental class and class XI IPA 6 as the control class are taken as the sample. The result of the research show that the hypothesis, that the null hypothesis is rejected, its showed from that significant statistical value 1,66 and significant 5% of 1% 2,38 and the result of to = 10.77. Based on the data calculating the of t-test that chain pictures is effective in teaching speaking at XI IPA of SMA Negeri 5 Kota Serang.
