  • This research is conducted for improving reading comprehension in recount text through rider strategy at the first grade student Binuang, Serang in academic year 2019/2020. The research is conducted based on the statement of problem 1) How is the implementation of using rider to improve the student’s reading comprehension on recount text at the first grade of SMAN 1 Binuang?, 2) How is the improvement the student’s reading comprehension of recount text through rider strategy at the first grade of SMAN 1 Binuang?. According to research problems the objectives are: 1) To describe the implementation of using rider to improve the student’s reading comprehension on recount text at the first grade of SMAN 1 Binuang, 2)To identfyfy the improvement of student reading comprehension of recount text through rider strategy at the first grade of SMAN 1 Binuang. The method of this research used Classroom Action Research which conducted by two cycle as follow: plan, action, observation, and reflection. The subject of the research is the fisrt grade of SMAN 1 Binuang serang-Banten. To answer the question, the writer collected the data from 29 student of Class X mia 1 as the sample. The time of the research is three month of July until september in one semester, 2019. The data collected through observation and test. Based on the research, the researcher, the researcher would like to describe the final result of each cycle, in the first the highest scores is 80, the average score is 60, and the lowes scores is 30. Next, in the cycle II, the highest scores is 100, the average scores is 90,7, and the lowest score is 80. In addition, student response was positive. They were active and interesting. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the application of rider strategy can improve student’s reading comprehension in recount text, especially at the first grade student of SMAN 1 Binuang in academic year 2019/2020.
