- The research investigates kind of errors made by the Second Grade students of Daar El-Qolam Islamic Boarding School. and the reason why the errors happen. Specifically, it is written in the title of this research paper. That is “The Analysis of Students Error in Speech Production ( Slips of the Tongue )” A Case Study research at Second Grade of Daar El-Qolam Islamic Boarding School in the academic year 2016/2017.The research is conducted based on the focus problems: 1) How is the students Speech Production in Second Grade of Daar El-Qolam Islamic Boarding School? and 2) What are factors influencing students error in Speech Production (Slips of the Tongue)? In reference of the afro-mentioned problems, the purposes of the research are; 1) to know the students speech production in Second Grade of Daar El-Qolam Islamic Boarding School, and 2) to find out factors influencing students error in speech production (slips of the tongue). To answer the questions, the writer collects data from twelve students as respondents of the research, by conducting a case study research method. The population is the Second Grade of Daar El-Qolam Islamic Boarding School in academic 2016/2017, while the sample is 25 students since the writer uses random. The writer utilizes error analysis in this research to analyze the data collected from respondents. The result of the research shows that the ability of students at Second Grade of Daar El-Qolam Islamic Boarding School, is in “Good” level. However, the students still have problems in selecting word and grammatical rules, the students still make mistakes in the types of errors like Preservations, Anticipation, Shift, Lexical selection error, malapropism classical and Sound exchange error. In addition, the errors is caused by low knowledge of students in speech production, the students’ habitual to follow caused of mother tongue, less enrichments in learning English speech production in the classroom and low students’ self-esteem on speaking English.
