IMPROVING STUDENTS’ WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT THROUGH COMIC STRIPS(A Classroom Action Research at Eight Grade of MTsN Ciwandan-Cilegon)

- T his research entitled: “ IMPROVING STUDENTS ’ WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT THROUGH COMIC STRIPS (A Classroom Action Research at the Eight Grade of MTsN Ciwandan - Cilegon ) ” , the research is conducted based on the objectives of research: 1) to know the students’ skills in writing descriptive text 2) to know the comic strips applied in writing descriptive text 3) to know the effectiveness of comic strips in writing descriptive text . The method in this research is CAR (Classroom Action Research) which uses cycle model as follow: plan, action, observation, and reflection. For doing this research the writer has chosen eight grade classes for population which consist of about 206 s tudents, for sample it will choose one class, it is class eight - A of MTsN Ciwandan - Cilegon which consist of 33 students. The writer conducted this research from 0 2 to 19March 201 5 . From two cycles of classroom action research conducted, the writer conclu des that in cycle one the writer found that the minimum score is 50, maximum score is 75, and the average score is 63,93. It means that the students’ score is still low in writing descriptive . There are some students who can’t achieve the target score of s tandard criteria minimum. In cycle two, the writer revised the lesson plan and set the new design of learning scenario in the class. Besides, the writer reselected the more attractive topic from the text book and explained more clearly about the writing de scriptive text. In cycle two, the writer found that the minimum score is 65, maximum score is 80, and average score is 70,90. It is concluded that the comic strips technique is effective to improve studentds’ writing descrptive text.
