TEACHING PREFIXES AND SUFFIXES THROUGH INDEX CARD GAMES TOWARD STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY (An Experimental Research at Second Grades of MTS Mathla’ul Falah Siremen Serang)

- The research is conducted based on the research questions 1) How is the students’ vocabul a ry mastery at second grades of MTs Mathla’ul Falah Siremen Serang 2) How is the index card games applied in teaching prefixes and suffixes in learning vocabulary at second grades of MTs Mathla’ul Falah Siremen Serang . 3) How is the influence of teaching prefixes and suffixes through index card games toward students’ vocabulary mastery at MTs Mathla’ul Falah Siremen Serang. The method used in this research is quasi expeririment. the writer collected data from 70 studen ts. The population was students of the second grades of MTs Mathla’ul Falah Siremen Serang and the writer took sample from A class as control is not using index card games and B class as experimental class is using index card games . Since the research used experimental method, the data was gathered through pretest and posttest. Based on the result, the writer got mean pretest score 38,5 and posttest score 62,87 from control class and from experimental class got pre - test score 42,8 and post - test score 79,12. The writer also got t o 4,79, df 68, t t 2,38(1%), 1,66 (5%). Since post - test score from experimental class got higher increase than from control class and t o is higher than t t , it means that teaching prefixes and suffixes using index card games as experime ntal class has significant influence toward student’s vocabulary mastery .
