- This research investigates the use of Group Investigation (GI) technique in reading procedure text, specifically it is written in the tittle of this research paper, that is “The Effectiveness of Group Investigation Technique in Teaching Reading Skill on Procedure Text at the First grade of SMAN 14 Pandeglang”. The research on conducted based on the main problems 1) How is the application of group nvestigation technique in teaching reading procedure text? 2)How is the influence of group investigation technique in teaching reading procedure text? In reference to the afro-mentioned research problems, this research is aimed at 1) To investigate the application of group investigation technique in teaching reading procedure text. 2)To explain the influence of group investigation technique in teaching reading procedure text. The data was gathered through pre-test and post-test because the reseacher used quasi experimental method. Based on the result, the reseacher got mean pretest score 54.51 and posttest 77.25 from experiment class. While from control class the reseacher got mean pretest 53.70 and mean posttest 61.61. According to the data, the score of t0 (t observation) 3.06 is higher than tt(t table) 2.00. So that based on calculating the data of t-test that effective of using Group Investigation Technique in Teaching Reading Skill on Procedure Text has positive effect.
