  • This study is designed to find out the effectiveness of “Show and Tell” strategy on students’ speaking skill at the second-grade students’ of SMP Negeri 108 Jakarta Barat. It is conducted based on the research questions 1) how is the students public speaking before and after using show and tell strategy? 2) what is the effect of using show and tell strategy in improving speaking in public? and the objective of study are 1) to get result after using show and tell strategy., 2) to find out the effect of using the show and tell strategy. This study used an experimental research design and the data was collected from 79 students in two classes (experimental class andcontrol class). The result of this study is showed from the data of pre-test and post-test score. It can be seen from the mean of pre-test score in experimental class (60,0), and the mean of post-test score (78,4). Meanwhile, based on the statisticalcalculation the value of to (3,01), and df (77) in significance 5% (ttable = 1,66) and significance 1% (ttable = 2,37). From comparing the to and ttable, the result is to > ttable = 3,01 > 1,66 and to > ttable = 3,01 > 2,37. It means that tobservation (to) is higher than ttable (tt), so Null Hypothesis (HO) is rejected and Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It means that using show and tell in public speaking has significant effect on improving students’ speaking skill.
