  • This research investigates “The Effectiveness of Applying Direct Method in Improving Students’ Speaking Skill (An Experimental Research at VII grade in MTsN 3 Serang)”. This research is conducted based on the main problem: (1) How is students ‘speaking ability in MTsN 3 Serang? (2) How is the improvement of students’ speaking ability by applying Direct Method? This research oriented to this following aim: (1) to identify students ‘speaking ability in MTsN 3 Serang. (2) to know the improvement of students ‘speaking skill in MTsN 3 Serang by applying Direct Method as teaching approach in EFL classroom. The method of this research is quasi experiment. The population is 46 students at VII grade of MTsN 3 Serang that despite in to two classes D and E generally consisting 23 students. Two classes that being chosen of this research as a sample while class E is Experimental class and class D as the control class. The data is collected trough pretest and posttest. The result of the research shows that hypothesis assessment, null hypothesis is rejected and alternative hypothesis in accepted. it is appeared from statistical value that significant 5% = 2,00 and significant of 1%=2,66 and the result of to =6,37. It means that there is effect of applying Direct Method in improving students’speaking ability at VII grade of MTsN 3 Serang.
