  • This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of Kahoot! application as a media in teaching simple present tense. This study has three research questions, they are: (1) How is the student's ability in understanding of making the simple present tense before giving treatment? (2) How is the implementation of Kahoot! for teaching the simple present tense? (3) How is the effectiveness of using Kahoot! in teaching simple present tense? This research was conducted through pre-experimental research. The type of research was specifically a pre-experiment. The participants of this study were thirty (30) students from the VIII G class in the eighth grade of SMPN 8 Kota Serang. Pre-test and post-test as the research instrument and analyzed by using paired t-test. After doing a paired t-test, the result of this study showed that the mean of the pre-test = 30.83 and post-test = 43.83, and the result sig<0.05 = 0.007<0.05 in SPSS 22.0. In brief, a paired t-test showed that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. It can be concluded that there is a difference in the effectiveness of using Kahoot! application in teaching simple present tense at the eighth grade of SMPN 8 Kota Serang.
