- The development of Micro. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is now the hope of the country's economy as a buffer. The amount of effort and the policy that lias been done by tile government to SMEs, it should SMEs has been running well, bill the fact that we see now are still many SMEs stagnated in trying even deadly. The purpose of writing a paper to analyze (1) How is the development of SMEs at this time (2) Factors affecting SMEs to thrive. The method used was to search literature. searching journals such as Science Direct, Proquest, Goggle Scholar. Springer. Journal already were searched approximately 200 journals, but in a few select journals that correspond to the making of this article. Referenced journal that published from 2005 - 2015. Source of data is derived from secondary data drawn from relevant agencies while analyzed through descriptive qualitative. In conclusion, wefound that (1) increase in the number of SMEs at this time there is a tendency to go up and down due to difficulties in marketing and business environment ,(2) the factors that influence the development of SMEs is: capital, the quality of human resources, competitiveness of products produced, business environment and marketing. in the future, SMEs should be able to improve workforce skills in resolving problems and building a network for marketing. For a business environment that is conducive government should provide greater flexibility in licensing.
