Sanitary engineering</subject><description> The fifteen years old Air Dingin final disposal have used two kinds of operational system, sanitary landfill system (1993-1995) and open dumping system since 1995 until now. The purpose of this research is to study the effect of open dumping system to leachate characteristics. Sample were taken in two seasons, dry season and wet season. In the wet season the concentrations of BOD, COD, Conductivity, Alkalinity, and Coli Bacteria are higher compared to the dry season, on the contrary the concentrations of Fe, Pb, Zn are lower in the wet season compared to the dry season meanwhile the entirely pH of Air Dingin land disposal tends to be neutral. The parameters of COD and Coli Bacteria in the wet season have passed the standard quality limit. The open dumping system in Air Dingin land disposal may cause negative effect to the surrounding especially ground water and surface water.
