PARTISIPASI POLITIK TUANKU TAREKAT SYATTARIYAH DALAM PARTAI NASIONALIS DI PADANG PARIAMAN, SUMATERA BARAT

- The concept of political spectrum (politik aliran) as a clarification to partisanship in Indonesia, believes, there are strong relations among individual with a religious orientation to choose their political party. Moslem of santri tends to accompany Islamic party. Meanwhile, Moslem of abangan has a tendency to nationalist party (secular). Political participation of tuanku of Shatariyyah tarekat in political party at Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra, Indonesia, showing they are more inclined to choose nationalist party rather than Islamic party as political participation bases. This study identifies their tendencies to join the nationalist party. Thus, this study uses methodology of qualitative with field form of research. Primary data obtained through in-depth interview and observation. Research informant was tuanku of Shatariyyah tarekat, who became the official member of nationalist party at Padang Pariaman, triangulated with other informant. Informant selected through snow ball sampling. Secondary data obtained through research library. Nevertheless, this study finds the reason why tuanku of Shatariyyah tarekat more in favor of nationalist party as political participation bases, because a difference of ism among Islam modernist and Islam traditionalist, more safe and feel to be esteemed in nationalist party, pragmatic and opportunist in activities of politics. Their political participation had several function, pursuing need of economics, gratifying adjustment of social, pursuing special values, and fulfill need of subconscious and also certain psychology. Difference of ism among Islam tradisionalis with Islam modenis has influenced tuanku of Shatariyyah tarekat in determining political participation party bases. Their political participation shows a fading political spectrum in elite level of tarekat Shatariyyah in Padang Pariaman. They are more comprehending politics in rational perspective in pursuit of their social and economic, so that has come to rational pragmatic in political participation. This matter represent indication goes into effect of political desacralization amongst them, thus which become religion pragmatic human being in their political behavior.
