- ABSTRACT This research discusses and analyses message of Peace contained in the song of Bob Marley. Consequently Bob Marley is revered as an actor of world peace. This Research is aimed to describing the struggle of Bob Marley in conveying the message of peace and analyze the messages of peace contained in the lyrics of Bob Marley. The method used in this study is a qualitative method by using content analysis is to see the consistency of meaning in a text with regard analysis unit consisting of a sample unit (a collection of the songs of Bob Marley), recording unit (the lyrics are there on the song Bob Marley), and units of context (the context of peace Bob Marley conveyed in the lyrics of the song). Researchers gave limitations on seven songs were chosen based on the level of popularity and contains elements of peace including the song which title is War, Babylon System, slogan, Get Up Stand Up, Revolution, Redemption Song and One Love. The messages contained in the songs of peace were analyzed with the concept of peace Marxism Johan Galtung stating peace can be achieved if the absence of any form of violence. From this study can conclude that it is not the achievement of peace to gain, but peace lies in the process leading to results. The ideas of peace that is meant by Galtung can be captured from the figure of black descent reggae musician named Bob Marley. Bob Marley is a keen musician who voiced the values of peace in each stanza of the songs his creation. Bob Marley was never absent for a voice to the spirit of peace in each and every appearance throughout the world. Keywords : Johan Galtung, Bob Marley, Reggae and Peace.
