- In this study, the relationships between the numbers of diesel vehicles and SO2 gas concentrations at ambient air of Padang roadways, have been modeled. SO2 gas sample were captured using Gas Sampler Ambient device with pararosanilin method, and concentration analysis using spectrofotometer. The average concentration of SO2 gas at all three streets are ranged from 23.61 to 177.06 mg/Nm3, with the highest concentrations occurred in the morning at 7.00 to 8.00 a.m. and afternoon at 15.00-16.00 p.m. All these concentrations are still below the national ambient air quality standard under PP 41/1999. Regression and correlation analysis using SPSS 20 showed a very strong correlation between the numbers of diesel vehicle and concentration of SO2 gas with a value of correlation coefficient (r) 0.950 to 0.958; and the result equation also showed a significant correlation (α<0.05). Validation tests reveal that comparison of concentration of field measurement and model have error percentage (E) between 10 to 18 %.
