- An antidandruff shampo containing ethyl p-methoxycinnamate isolated from the rhizome of Kaempferia galanga L. was formulated in a liquid cream dosage form. ethyl p-methoxycinnamate was used at various concentrations 0.3; 0.5; 1.0; 1.5 and 2.0 % respectively. The antidandruff shampoo was evaluated with respect to its description (consistency, odor and color), pH, homogeneity, rheology, wetting properties, foaming formation, skin irritation test and microbiological assay by using edible seaweed diffusion method towards Candida albicans and Tricophyton mentagophytes. The result showed that the antidandruff shampoo containing 2.0 % ethyl-p-methoxycinnamate was the best formula. Keywords : Ethyl p-methoxycinnamate, Kaempferia galanga L., liquid cream dosage form.
