  • This research entitled Family Communication Pattern in Facing Children of Drug Victims (Qualitative Study on Family and Children of Drug Victims in Bandar Khalifah, Percut Sei Tuan, Deli Serdang). The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern of family communication in dealing with child victims of drugs (Qualitative study on families and children of drug victims in Bandar Khalifah, Percut Sei Tuan, Deli Serdang). The theory used in this study are: Family, Family Communication, Pattern of Family Communication an Child. The paradigm used in this study is the positivist paradigm by using qualitative research methods, with data collection techniques using in-depth interviews and observation. The positivism paradigm defines communication as a linear process or a causal process. The selection of informants was carried out by purposive sampling technique which was the method of determining a number of informants before the research was carried out by clearly mentioning who was made the informant and what information was wanted from each informant. The results showed that the pattern of family communication in dealing with narcotics victims by four informants was dominated by unbalanced split pattern, this pattern meant that one person dominated, one person was considered as an expert more than half the reciprocal communication area, one person the dominating ones often take control. Researchers also found several supporting factors that made the four children of informants able to consume drugs, namely the lack of warmth in the family in the form of love and care, time to gather regularly in it, communication or counseling about religious and bad living environments.
