- Criminality or crime is every work (including the negligence) which is prohibited by public law to protect the public and the criminal form of sanctioned by the State. Such a feat was convicted of violating the social norms of the community. The reported incident is any incident of reported community at Polres, or event where the culprit is caught by police. This community report will note and follow up by having Polres categorized if enough evidence. As for which is included in this crime is the Wrestling, fire, Obscene/Promiscuity, violence against Children, and embezzlement, Theft light. Formulation of the problem in this research is to find out which are the most variable influence on levels of crime that happened in Central Tapanuli Regency. A linear regression equation to get the author uses multiple methods of backward method that took out one by one the free variables that have the greatest value and stop if all values from less than criteria. Assumptions obtained was ̂ . With Y amount of criminality, is Obscene/Promiscuityand is Theft with a Weighting. So we can be conclude that the predicted model obtained is quite good is used as a predictor of crime in the Polres Kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah.
- Kriminalitas atau kejahatan adalah setiap perbuatan (termasuk kelalaian) yang dilarang oleh hukum publik untuk melindungi masyarakat dan diberi sanksi berupa pidana oleh Negara. Perbuatan tersebut dihukum karena melanggar norma-norma sosial masyarakat. Peristiwa yang dilaporkan adalah setiap peristiwa yang dilaporkan masyarakat pada Polres, atau peristiwa dimana pelakunya tertangkap tangan oleh kepolisian. Laporan masyarakat ini akan dicatat dan ditindak-lanjuti oleh Polres jika dikategorikan memiliki cukup bukti. Adapun yang termasuk dalam kriminalitas ini adalah Curanmor, Kebakaran, Pencabulan/ Persetubuhan, Curat, Penggelapan, dan Pencurian ringan. Perumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui manakah variabel yang paling berpengaruh terhadap tingkat kriminalitas yang terjadi di Kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah. Untuk mendapatkan persamaan regresi linier berganda tersebut penulis menggunakan metode backward yaitu metode yang mengeluarkan satu per satu variabel bebas yang memiliki nilai terbesar dan berhenti jika semua nilai variabelnya kurang dari kriteria. Penduga yang diperoleh adalah ̂ . Dengan Y menyatakan jumlah kriminalitas, adalah Pencabulan/Persetubuhan dan adalah Curat. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa model penduga yang diperoleh cukup baik digunakan sebagai penduga besar jumlah kriminalitas di Kepolisian Resort Kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah.
