- The experiment was aimed to examine the effect of microorganism and the time application of soil fertilizer on the growth and yield of Lactuca sativum. The experiment was conducted at North Sumatera University, North Sumatera, Medan with elevation + 25 m above the sea level, started from October 2009 until December 2009. The experiment used randomized completely block design (RCBD) factorial. The first factor is effective microorganism with 4 treatments that were E1 = 0,5 ml/kg soil fertilizer, E2 = 1 ml/kg soil fertilizer, E3= 1,5 ml/kg soil fertilizer and E4 = 2 ml/kg soil fertilizer. The second factor is time application soil fertilizer that were T0 = 1 week before plantation, T1 = planting, and T2 = 1 week after plantation. The results were plant altitude, the amount of leaf and production per sample. The result showed that microorganism treatment have a significantly effect in plant altitude, the amount of leaf and production per sample. Time of plantation treatment have a significantly effect in plant altitude and production per sample and the combinatin between microorganism and time of plantation have a significantly effect in production per sample.
