- The aim of this research is to know how the effect of plastic mulche and leaf fertilizer against M. persicae on red chilly. The destructive insects of red chilly were Spodoptera litura ; Thrips parvispinus, Dacus dorsalis, M. persicae and Helicoverpa armigera. M. persicae attacked the red chilly by sucking the sap of young plant and caused curling on leaf. The production were getting lower and sometimes the plant was died. This research could be was arranged by Randomized Blok Design where the first factor consist of: 5 treatments M0,M1,M2,M3,M4. And the second factor was : 5 treatments P0,P1,P2,P3,and P4 and all treatments had 3 replications. This research was located on Desa Kuala Bingai Kecamatan Stabat; Kabupaten Langkat and conducted July to September 2004. The results showed that leaf fertilizer influenced on damage intensity , where the highest intensity on PO (13,4%) and the lowest on P2 (2,4 %). The plastic mulche and it's combinations with leaf fertilizer did not affect significantly, so damage especially on 14,21,28,35 and 77 days after planting. While.42,49,56,63 and 70 days appeared significantly difference with P0(48,33 %) and the lowest on M2 (26,67 %). The Combination plastic mulche with leaf fertilizer significantly appearance in percentages of damage were the highest M2P1,M0P0, and M4P4 (66,677o) and the lowest on M2P, M2P2 and M4P0 (16,67 %). The highest production was on P2 (96,00 gr/plot) and the lowest was on P0 (83,83 gr/plot) and the treatment combination effect real with the highest production was on M2P2 (46,75 gr/plot) and the lowest was on M0P0 (22,04 gr/plot).
