  • The stored carbon potential of Acacia manginum plantation forest based on the biomass per age class approach at IUPHHK-HTI of PT. Sumatera Riang Lestari has been studied to find out the biomass, stored carbon and the value of environmental service of carbon absorption. This study was conducted at the IUPHHK-HTI area belongs to PT. Sumatera Riang Lestari, Sei Kebaro Sector in the area of Labuhan Batu Selatan and Padang Lawas Utara Districts which is geographically located at 100°10’32” East Longitude - 100°24’47” East Longitude and 01°26’20” North Latitude - 01°37’30” North Latitude. The samples for this study were selected through non-destructive sampling technique using alometric equation and the proportional parts of Acacia manginum trees (Elias et al., 2010; Purwitasari, 2011). The sample plot used was in circular shape with an area of 400 m2 or diameter of 22.56 m. The primary data selected from each plot were diameter at breast height and total height, while the value of environmental service were obtained from CO2 absorption and CO2 stored in the form of biomass referring to the carbon prices at New South Wales Stock Exchange (Capoor and Ambrosi, 2009 in Rahmat, 2010). The result of the study on 15 sample plots selected showed that the amount of biomass obtained per age class were 9.60 tons/ha for Age Class I; 66.97 tons/ha for Age Class II; 159.02 tons/ha for Age Class III; 273.96 tons/ha for Age Class IV and 429.05 tons/ha for Age Class V with stored carbon potential per age class was 4.89 tons/ha for Age Class I; 34.14 tons/ha for Age Class II; 81.06 tons/ha for Age Class III; 139.65 tons/ha for Age Class IV; and 218.70 tons/ha for Age Class V and the value of environmental service obtained from CO2 absorption and CO2 stored in the form of carbon at the IUPHHK-HTI area belongs to PT. Sumatera Riang Lestari, Sei Kebaro Sector was Rp.792.480/ha for Age Class I; Rp.5.527.597/ha for Age Class II; Rp.13.126.051/ha for Age Class III; Rp.22.613.201/ha for Age Class IV; and Rp.35.414.844/ha for Age Class V.
