- Narcotics are substances or drugs derived from plants or non-plants, either synthetic or semi-shyntetic, which can cause a decrease or change of consciousness, loss of sense, reducing up to eliminating pain, and can lead to addiction, which is devided into some categories. In 2009, the prevalence of drug abuse in the students in Sumatera Utara reached 4.7 percent of the total number of about 921,695 students.In Social Institution of Pamardi Putra Insyaf Sumatera Utara in 2011, the number of clients who were undergoing rehabilitation reached 104 people (44 people in an integrated class/ still addicted to the drug, and 60 people in a conventional classroom/ no longer adicted to the drug). This study aims to analyzing the influence of the parental support and peers (emotion, appreciation, instrumental, information, social network) to the development of doing abuse recovery in the teenagers in the Social Institution of Pamardi Putra Insyaf Sumatera Utara. The populations of this explanatory survey study were 60. All of them were selected to be the respondents of this study through total sampling method. The data for this study were obtained by distributing questionnaires, and were collected from respondents from Januari to December 2011, and the data were analyzed by using multiple logistic regression test at α = 0.05. The research findings showed that the recovery of narcotic abused was influenced by parents and peers. While the most dominant variables with significantly had influenced on the development of drug abuse recovery is parental support. Is it sugested that: the head and executive staff of social institution of Pamardi Putra Insyaf expected to the chairman, and the operating staff of Social Institution program Pamardi Putra Insyaf Sumatera Utara need to set up policies, programs, and activity plan by involving peers and family members, especially parents, and work more actively to provide support and counseling to the patients of rehabilitation, and the coming researchchers should conduct research on the parents having addicted children, to identify the reaction and acceptance of the parents as well as the action and attempts done to help their children get recovered from drug abused.
