- The title of this thesis is “Analisis Kesalahan Mahasiswa dalam Menggunakan Kata Depan 向xiang, 对dui dan 朝chao”. This research analized the errors in using preposition 向xiang, 对dui and 朝chao in Mandarin. The background of this research is a frequent error in making sentences in Mandarin by the student of semester VI Program Studi Sastra China Fakultas Ilmu Budaya USU. This research aimed to identify the error that occurred using preposisiton 向xiang, 对dui and 朝chao in sentences of Mandarin and to analized the cause of the error. The theory used to analize the errors in using preposisiton 向xiang, 对dui and 朝chao is error analysis and syntax. The methodology used in this thesis is descriptive qualitative. The result found after analyzing the problem of this thesis that there are many errors in using the preposition of 向xiang, 对dui and朝chao in Mandarin sentences, such as the misunderstand in using the preposition of 向xiang, 对dui and 朝chao. The result is that the error made by student not only in the miss usage the preposition of 向xiang, 对dui and朝chao with a verb, but also because of the influences of their own native languages.
