- Coronary Heart Disease has become one of the leading causes of death. World Health Organization reported in 2000 Proportional Mortality Ratio from coronary heart disease was 25.4%, consisting of 12.2% male deaths and 13.2% of deaths of women. In addition WHO has also recorded more than 7 million people died from CHD in the entire world in 2002. To know the character of the patiens which are hospital at RSUP Dr. Pirngadi Medan for period of 2010, desciptive study has been done bay using case series design and continued with the statistical analysis. Population is including those of CHD patients being hospitalized for period 2010 as many 153 people and made the whole study sample. Data analysis was performed with a descriptive analysis and cross tabulation. The proportion of CHD patients at Hospital Dr. highest Pirngadi Medan in 2010 at age ≥ 56-60 years of age 70 years, female gender 61,4%, religion 53,6%, ethnic Batak 41,2%, married marital status 89,5%, level of school education 38,6%, occupation housewife 37,5%, residence in the city of Medan 81,75%, the source rather than its own cost 61,4%, chest pain 36,60%, hypercholesterolemia 44,44%, hypertension 51%, mild blood pressure 55,6%, high blood sugar levels 40,7%, cholesterol levels are 48,9%, bad heart 3,57%, long day care 4 days and ambulatory home. Chi-square test shows that there is significant difference between age and sex (t = 0,025). T-test shows that there is significant difference between average of stay and age (p = 0,280), average length of stay and cost (p = 0,000), anova shows that there is no significant difference between average length of stay and treatment (p = 0,108). There was a significant difference in proportion between the ages of CHD patients who are hospitalized on the basis of sex in the RSU Dr. Pirngadi Medan. There are significant differences in proportions between long day care CHD patients who are hospitalized based on sources of cost. Needed to increase health services for people with CHD, especially in patients with high cholesterol levels, history of previous illness hiperkoleterolemia, age ≥ 56-60 years, the source of cost rather than its own, and maintainability in the long days on 4 days and increased health services for people with CHD in the working area, with conduct periodic checks and affordable to prevent CHD patients are not getting CHD disease complications.
