- This research aims to determine the effect of growing media and phosphate fertilizer on the growth of the eye sleep Stum grafting rubber (Havea brasiliensis Muell Arg.). Research carried out in field trials USU Faculty of Agriculture, Medan with altitude of about 25 meters above sea level at the beginning of March until July 2011. Experimental method used is a randomized block design with two treatment factors. Planting media as the first factor with 4 standard treatment that is M0 (Topsoil Ultisol 8 kg), M1 (Topsoil 6 kg + Sludge 2 kg), M2 (Topsoil 4 kg + Sludge 4 kg), M3 (Topsoil 2 kg + Sludge 6 kg) and phosphate fertilizer as a second factor with 4 level is P0 (0 g), P1 (15 g) , P2 (30 g) and P3 (45 g) with 3 replications. Parameter were observed open eye velocity stum, stum percentage germination, shoot height, stem girth, number of leaves, percentage stum one umbrella, umbrella two percentage stum, crown wet weight, dry weight of the canopy, root wet weight and dry weight of the canopy. The Results that M3 showed the best results at high parameters of shoots, girth, number of leaves, umbrella stum age two, the weight of wet canopy, canopy dry weight, wet weight of roots and root dry weight. Phosphate fertilizer in this research showed no apparent effect on all parameters. The interaction parameters significantly affect the number of leaves. The combination treatment produced the highest number of leaves is M3P3 (Topsoil 2 kg + Sludge 6 kg and Phosphate 45 g/plant) which proved to increase the number of leaves of rubber trees.
