- Introduction: Prevalence of Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH) infection in Indonesia is still high with the percentage of 60% - 90% among the primary school children. Worm infection incidences show that there was a relation between the infection and nutritional status in children. Methode: This descriptive analytical study used cross – sectional design with a total sample of 64 children of SD Negeri 101837 Suka Makmur, Kecamatan Sibolangit Kabupaten Deli Serdang that passes all the criteria that have been made. The data in this study was taken by measuring their stature and weight and compared to NCHS CDC 2000 growth chart for nutritional status and using Kato – Katz technique to detect the presence of Ascaris eggs in feces. Results: The results of this study showed that the prevalence of Ascariasis is 76.6% with mild infection was the highest incidence. The results also suggest that Ascariasis can affect nutritional status in children. Conclusion: The prevalence of Ascaris infection is still high. Ascariasis can affect nutritional status in children.
