- Monitoring of Nutritional Status in Jeunieb Sub-district Bireuen district Aceh Province in 2009 showed the prevalence of underweight children under five as 20.4% and severe underweight as 6.1%, in Juli Sub-district underweight children under five as 20.4% and severe underweight as 6.4% in Jeumpa Sub-district underweight children under five as 27.8% and severe underweight as 6.0%, Target Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) reduces number of underweight children under five become 10% in 2015. The objective of the study was to analyze influence of lecturing method with audio visual media and calendar poster on the nutritional behavior of mothers having underweight and severe underweight children under five in Bireuen District Aceh Province. This research was quasi-experimental study with pre-and post-test design conducted in three Sub-districts Bireuen District, namely Jeunieb, Jeumpa and Juli. The populations of this study were the mothers having underweight and severe underweight children under five. The sample for this study consisted of 15 mothers per group. The counseling was given to first group through lecturing with audio visual method and calendar poster method to the second group and control group. The result of lecturing was measured based on the result of the behavior test obtained from the respondents. Data analysis was done through Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney tests. The result of study showed that there was influence of lecturing with audio visual and calendar poster on the behavior of the mothers having underweight and severe underweight children under five. It was found that lecturing method was more effective than audio visual method. It is suggested to 1) Bireuen District Health Office to choose lecturing with calendar poster in enchancing the behavior of the mothers having underweight and severe underweight children under five in Bireuen District, 2) Health Officers to increase their through training in implementing community nutritional health education.
