  • Colletotrichum sp., is one of causal agents of antracnose disease on cacao leaf. This fungus is one organisms that caused leaf blight. Biological control of Colletotrichum sp, utilizing bacterial and fungal isolates has been reported. However utilization of chitinolytic bacterial isolates to control anthracnose of cacao leaf has rarely been reported. In this study, the ability of chitinolitic bacterial isolates to inhibit Colletotrichum sp. was evaluated by using an antagonisms assay on minimum salt medium agar with 2% colloidal chitin as carbon source. The result showed that the five chitinolytic bacterial isolates have the ability to inhibit Colletotrichum sp. The invivo tests showed that the chitinolitic bacterial isolates have the ability to suppress disease incidence and disease severity on cacao leaf. LK08 reduced diseases severity to 0.8% and diseases incidence 4% respectively.
