  • Rhizophora mucronata is one tree that has strong roots and be able to withstand waves of ocean currents. One of the efforts made to rehabilitate degraded forest mangrove is doing seedbed propagules R. mucronata. The part of seedbed are media composition and good of various kinds of sizes . This research was conducted in the seedling location of Sicanang Belawan and Laboratory of Forest Soil Biology , Soil Departement, Agriculture Faculty, University of North Sumatera during 3 mouth i.e Maret-Juni 2011. This research use the group random design (GRD) with 5 treatment i.e 0% of shading, 25% of shading, 50% of shading, 75% of shading, and 100% of shading for 15 replication. The results showed growth of propagules R. mucronata of intensity of shading to give real effecton seedling life percentation, height, seedling diameter, seedling leaf, total leaf area, and total biomass. High largest seed in the seed R. mucronata with 75% of shading that is equal to 16.513 cm. The diameter of the largest seed in the seed R. mucronata with 25% of shading is 0.533 cm. The high largest seedling leaf in seed R. mucronata with 75% of shading is 4.000. We have the largest seedling total leaf area in seedlings R. mucronata with 75% of shading that is equal to 128.579 cm2. Total biomass of the largest seed found in seed R. mucronata with 75% of shading that is equal to 0.813 grams.
