- The research of comparison on the nature of Polymer Matrix Composite Cellulose Acetate Synthesis and Cellulose Acetate Commercial Varied by Polypropylene for Packaging have been done. In this study, cellulose acetate and polypropylene are mixed with a mass ratio of 1:9; 2:8; 3:7 using xylene as a solvent under reflux method. The results of reflux is cooled and dried and then printed with a hot press so that will be produced film with a certain thickness. From the test results obtained by FTIR that the result of polymer composite matrix only physical interactions namely hydrogen bonds. It obtained the best in tensile test of matrix polymer when matrix cellulose acetate synthesis and polypropylene is 1:9 (stress 26.6665MPa, strain 12.2969%). DTA test matrix cellulose acetate commercial and polypropylene 2:8 showed better results (melting point 168 0C, decomposition point 380 0C). The value of water absorption capacity on commercial cellulose acetate matrix and polypropylene 2:8 showed a higher yield that is 0.9956%. Biodegradation test results obtained by a greater degradation in the matrix of cellulose acetate commercial and polypropylene 3:7 in the waste soil after 30 days that is equal to 0.4145%.
