- The method of transportation is a method that can be used to determine the most effective allocation of goods from a source to a particular destination for a minimal cost. This research was conducted on Perum BULOG Sub Divre Medan. This company is a state-owned company as the implementer of rice program prosperous (Rastra). This research aims to optimize Rastra distribution cost. The method used is the Vogel's Approximation (VAM) method as the initial solution and the Modified Distribution (MODI) method as the final or optimal solution. From the calculation by using the transportation method obtained optimum cost lower than the calculation of the company, the cost obtained by transportation method of Rp 3.153.593.881,00 while with the calculation of the company total distribution costs obtained as much as Rp 3.223.563.685,00. Thus the use of transportation methods of VAM and MODI methods can save distribution costs of Rp 69.969.804,00
- Metode transportasi adalah suatu metode yang dapat digunakan untuk menentukan pengalokasian barang yang paling efektif dari suatu sumber ke suatu tujuan tertentu dengan biaya yang seminimal mungkin. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada Perum BULOG Sub Divre Medan. Perusahaan ini merupakan perusahaan milik negara sebagai pelaksana program beras sejahtera (Rastra). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan biaya distribusi Rastra. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode Vogel’s Approximation(VAM) sebagai solusi awal dan metode Modified Distribution (MODI) sebagai solusi akhir atau optimal. Dari perhitungan dengan menggunakan metode transportasi diperoleh biaya optimum yang lebih rendah dari perhitungan perusahaan, biaya yang diperoleh dengan metode transportasi sebesar Rp 3.153.593.881,00 sedangkan dengan perhitungan perusahaan total biaya distribusi diperoleh sebanyak Rp 3.223.563.685,00. Dengan demikian penggunaan metode trasportasi yaitu metode VAM dan MODI dapat menghemat biaya distribusi sebesar Rp 69.969.804,00.
