- Background: The main clinical symptom of scabies is a severe itchy especially at night. In the students, this will disturb their sleep that the next morning they will look tired and weak. In addition, the feeling of itchy causes their desire to scratch that it will disturb their learning concentration. All of these will of course bring an impact on the students’ learning achievement. Objective: To examine the influence of scabies on the learning achievement of the santri in a pesantren in the city of Medan. Subject and method: This is an analytical study with cross-sectional design conducted from January to February 2011 involving 50 santries developing scabies. The mark of the reports of the santries developing scabies in odd semester of 2010/2011 was compared with those of 2009/2010 before they developed the scabies. Then the mark of both odd semesters was statistically analyzed through t dependent test. Result: The learning achievement of the santries before developing scabies was higher than that after developing scabies. Conclusion: Scabies can make the learning achievement of the santries decrease.
