- Indonesian population increased from year to year. One of the effects to control the rate of population growth and birth rate is through the implementation of family planning programmed (KB). Based on simply Kanan Health Centre profile in 2009, the number of fertile-age couples who used contraception in Kepenghuluan Bukit Damar were 36,71% that was still far from target according to Minimum Service Standards (MSS) which is 70% in 2010. The type of the research used explanatory approach that aimed to explain the influence of predisposing, enabling and need factors used of contraception by fertile-age couples in Kepenghuluan Bukit Damar Simpang Kanan Subdistrict Rokan Hilir District Province Riau in 2010. The population were all the fertile-age couples who had more than two children amounted to 506 from 621 fertile-age couples. Samples were 83 fertile-age couples determined by simple random sampling. Data were collected by using questionnaire and analyzed by using multiple logistic regression tests. The results of research showed that variables which had significant influence used of contraception by fertile-age couples were knowledge (p=0,001), the availability of contraception (p=0,015) and need (p=0,029). Variables which had no significant influence were age, education, job, income and affordability. It is suggested to the Simpang Kanan Health Centre offices to increase the CIE (Communication, Information and Education) so that knowledge about contraceptives of the fertile-age couples better, it is also suggested to increase the number and types of contraceptives so as to increase the utilization of contraception by the fertile-age couples.
