- The employee performance is a major factor for the organization in achieving organizational goals. There are several factors that affect employee performance improvement such as through education and training and career development. With education and training and career development of employees is expected to increase the knowledge, expertise, skills and attitudes to be able to carry out duties in a professional position with based on personality and ethics in officials in accordance with the needs of agencies in carrying out the tasks given to him. From the background, then the problem is formulated as follows: 1). far the effect of education and training, and career development to performance of employee at Kantor Regional VI Badan Kepegawaian Negara Medan, and 2). how far the effect of career patterns, and career planning to the development of career of employee at Kantor Regional VI Badan Kepegawaian Negara Medan. The theory used in this study was the theories of Human Resource Management relating to education and training, career development, performance, career patterns, and career planning. The method used in this study is a survey approach, this type of research is descriptive quantitative, and descriptive nature of this research is explanatory. Method of data collection is done by interviews, questionnaires, and study documentation. Methods of data analysis used were multiple linier regression. The population in this study and 108 employees. Determination of the number of samples in this study using the Slovin formula using 90 percent confidence level and the number of sample of 52 respondents. Results for the first hypothesis suggests that education and training, and career development are simultaneously very highly significant effect on employee performance, and career development variables partially influence more dominant than the variable of education and training. Furthermore, results for the second hypothesis show career patterns and career planning are simultaneously very highly significant impact on employee career development, and career pattern variables partially influence more dominant than on career planning variables. The conclusion of this research are: 1) Education and training, and career development of simultaneously highly significant effect on employee performance at Kantor Regional VI Badan Kepegawaian Negara Medan, and 2) career pattern, and career planning of simultaneously highly significant effect on employee career development at Kantor Regional VI Badan Kepegawaian Negara Medan.
