- A lot of references had been adopted and there were a variety of results concerning significant factors that influenced the final outcome of patients with acute subdural hemorrhage (acute SDH). Several factors that had been estimated influencing the outcome of acute SDH patients are : volume of hematoma , ‘midline shift’, cerebral contusion , time interval between trauma and operation, level of consciousness at the time of operation, size and pupillary light reflex , increased intracranial pressure before and after the operation, recurrent SDH postoperatively 1,7,24,31,32,33,53,54. Most authors reported that extensive decompression craniotomies had benefit in increasing the final outcome of acute SDH patients 48,49,50. Subdural hemorrhage still associated with relatively high mortality and morbidity rates. It is very urgent to understand the pathophysiology and to appreciate the facts of factors influencing the ultimate prognosis of subdural hemorrhage. As a suggestion, it is perhaps very important to perform a national study upon subdural hemorrhage in other to decrease the mortality and morbidity rates.
