  • Premium is a kind of gasoline marketed in Indonesia. Its spesification is based on the regulation issued by General Director of Oil and Petroleum with the number 3674/24/DJM/2006, March 17, 2006, with oetane number 88. Premium is used as fuel of vihicle engines specially designed and constructed to use premium as their fuel. When premium is more expensive than kerosene, there’s tendency of retail premium sellers to mix some amount of kerosene into premium gasoline to gain more profit. Visually, there’s no contrast difference between standard premium of PERTAMINA and premium mixed with some amount of kerosene. Therefore, this research has been conducted to examine and describe the quantitative relation between the volume percentage of premium mixed with kerosene using TGS 2620 gas sensor. The TGS 2620 gas sensor was used at room temperature. The volume concentrasion of premium mixed with kerosene was in variation of 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85. 90, and 95 % respectively. Then, the TGS 2620 gas sensor was used to determine the purity level of premium sold by retail premium sellers on Jalan Jamin Ginting Padang Bulan Medan, based on the relation of resistancy with the percentage of the mixture. It was discovered that the purity of premium sold on Jalan Jamin Ginting Padang Bulan Medan, was still in accordance with the standard quality of pemium sold by PERTAMINA.
