- In preschooled age, a child still relies on his/her parental direction. Decision making in consuming anything significantly depends on the parental role especially on mother. It is within the age that the parents play an important role in keeping their child from synthetic sweetener agent that is danger to the health of child. The knowledge of mother about the street food has significant effect on the selection of the street food of child. Any mother who knows the healthy foodstoof and free of cheical agent will ensure the growth and development of child optimally. The objective of the study is to know the attitude of mother about street food containing the synthetic sweeting agent at AL-UMMI Kindergarten of Ceumpedak Village of Tanah Jambo Aye Subregency of North Aceh in 2010. The population included 40 mothers with total sampling. The data were collected by using a questionnaire consisting of age, occupation, education, source of information, knowledge, attitude, and action and even general description and geographical position of AL-UMMI Kindergarten gathered from the document of AL–UMMI Kindergarten. The collected data were then analyzed descriptively. The result of the study showed that majority (52.5%) of the source of information related to the streedfood was collected by the mothers from mass media. Majority of the knowledge rate of mothers about of street food containing the synthetic sweeting agent in the moderate level (75.0%). Similarly, in the case of attitude and action took by mothers related to the street food containing the synthetic sweetener agent in the moderate of 60.0% and 70.0%, respectively. It is required to improve guidance by the public health center officials related to the supplemental foods especially in the case of synthetic sweetener agent, and a cross-sectoral collaboration between Health Department and Education Department to socialize and inform the danger of consuming the street food containing the synthetic sweetener agent.
