  • The difference of distance between maxillary central incisors with incisive papilla are based on race and gender of FKG USU students who were the generation of 2007 and 2008. xii + 59 Pages To make GTP especially in artificial arrangement phase needs guidances. One of them is using biometric guidance. Incisive papilla is one of the biometric guidances in intraoral. The distance between maxillary central incisors with the posterior of incisive papilla (I-P distance) can be used to estimate antero-posterior position of maxillary central incisors. According to some researchers, I-P distance varied. This due to several factors, they are inclination of maxillary central incisors, the thickness of maxillary central incisors, maxillary arch size, gender and race. Edentulous patients derives from different race and gender groups. To ease the arrangement of maxillary central incisor artificial, needs to know the appropriate I-P for each race and gender. The aim of this reseach was to know the validity of race and gender influences on I-P distance. This analytic study was to compare I-P distance data between Caucasian and Mongoloid races, between male and female. The measurement techniques were done by measuring the distance between maxillary central incisors with incisive papilla. This research involved 60 FKG USU students who were the generation of 2007 and 2008 that consisted of 28 males and 32 females who had fulfilled the criterias. Data analysis use two statistical tests that are Kolmogorov-Smirnov test to know the normal distributed of sample and t-test to see the I-P differences based on race and gender. The average of I-P distance in Mongoloid race is 12,72 + 1,08 mm. The average of I-P distance in Caucasian race is 12,79 + 1,14 mm. In Mongoloid race, I-P distance of male is 12,28 + 0,82 mm, and female is 12,28 + 1,19 mm. In Kaukasoid race, I-P distance of male is 13,10 + 1,13 mm, and female is 12,58 + 1,13 mm. The average of I-P distance in male is 13,10 + 0,95 mm. The average of I-P distance in female is 12,45 + 1,1 mm. It was concluded that, there were no significant differences of I-P distance between Mongoloid and Caucasian races (p=0,813). In Mongoloid race, there were significant differences of I-P distance between male and female (p=0,036). But in Kaukasoid race, there were no significant differences between male and female (p=0,0226). According to gender, there were significant differences between male and female (p=0,021). In male, there were no signficant differences between Mongoloid and Kaukasoid (p=0,99). In female, there were no signficant differences between Mongoloid and Kaukasoid (p=0,476).
