- One of the potential hazards in the workplaces was the chemical factor. Dust was the most common and dangerous chemical factor in the workplace, dust was a solid chemical, caused by natural or mechanical forces such as processing, destruction, softening, fast packing, blasting of objects either organic or inorganic that could cause respiratory system disorders. The purpose of this research was to know the description of dust rate and respiratory system disorder symptoms in underpass construction project workers Brigjen Katamso Medan city 2018. The type of research used in the survey was descriptive. The population in this research amounted to 50 workers, with the number of samples taken by total population method. Data collection methods were conducted by completed questionnaires through direct interviews with respondents and dust levels measurements used Low Volume Air Sampler. The data analysis was performed by univariate analysis which resulted in the frequency distribution table. The results showed that the dust level was 0,3150-1,5305 mg/m3, while the standard value of the grade or the threshold value of dust was 3,9 mg/m3, so the dust level in the Brigjen Katamso underpass fulfilled the requirements. The majority of respondents is 37 people (74%) were assessed to have no respiratory system symptoms and 13 respondents (36%) were assessed to have respiratory system symptoms. It is recommended to PT. Hutama Karya through the company's K3 team to provided N95 masks for workers and required workers to use these masks, and for workers to want and consistently used N95 masks at work and reduced smoking behavior.
- Salah satu potensi bahaya di tempat kerja ialah faktor kimia. Debu merupakan faktor kimia yang paling sering terdapat dan berbahaya di tempat kerja, debu adalah zat kimia padat yang disebabkan oleh kekuatan-kekuatan alami atau mekanis seperti pengolahan, penghancuran, pelembutan, pengepakan yang cepat, peledakan dari benda baik organik maupun anorganik yang dapat menyebabkan gangguan sistem pernafasan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar debu dan gejala gangguan sistem pernafasan pada pekerja proyek pembangunan underpass Brigjen Katamso kota Medan tahun 2018. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan survey bersifat deskriptif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 50 pekerja, dengan jumlah sampel yang diambil melalui metode total populasi. Metode pengumpulan data dilaksanakan dengan pengisian kuesioner melalui wawancara langsung dengan responden dan pengukuran kadard ebu menggunakan Low Volume Air Sampler. Analisis data dilaksanakan dengan analisisis univariat yang hasilnya digambarkan dalam tabel distribusi frekuensi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kadar debu berada di angka 0,3150- 1,5305 mg/m3, sedangkan nilai baku mutu atau nilai ambang batas kadar debu ialah 3,9 mg/m3, sehingga kadar debu di underpass Brigjen Katamso telah memenuhi persyaratan. Sebagian besar responden yakni sebanyak 37 orang (74%) dinilai tidak memiliki gejala gangguan sistem pernafasan dan sebanyak 13 orang responden (36%) dinilai memiliki gejala gangguan sistem pernafasan. Disarankan kepada PT. Hutama Karya melalui tim K3 perusahaan untuk menyediakan masker N95 bagi para pekerja dan mewajibkan para pekerja untuk menggunakan masker tersebut, dan kepada para pekerja untuk mau dan konsisten menggunakan masker N95 pada saat bekerja dan mengurangi perilaku merokok.
