- The chance of Islamic law to be adopted into state legal system especially when it deals with family issues is widely opened because Constitution accepts reforms of family law to establish principles of legal certainty and to create harmonious family, and protect women and children. The existence of Islamic family law in Indonesia, and in other Muslim majority countries, is interesting because this field of law gains priority of reform and accommodation. This article analyzes Marriage Law No. 1/1974 and Compilation of Islamic Law to show how Islamic law has been institutionalized in Indonesia and how Islamic law influences and is being influenced by state law
