- PT. X is a spinning company which produces sewing thread. That company has some quality problem at twisting area, where defects are detected. To improve quality performance in that area, DMAIC method is used . The result of study and analysis revealed that first priority of defect that have to be fixed is curly thread, then hairy thread, and last priority is thread that has abnormal TPI. The research suggest some improvement proposal which are: the use of ultraviolet light sensor for thread, installation of automatic system at some part of machine, cooperation with raw thread supplier and/or part machine supplier to look for solutions by collaboration with SISIR, look for alternative supplier if it possible, use the original spare parts if it possible, conduct some training and mentoring how to maintain the machine for relevant staffs and technician , utilization of check-sheet form in work inspection which is to be filled, completed by operators and to be checked by chief operator, and the use of picture image of assembly thread line as a guide for operators.
