- In order to improve the travel and tourism competitiveness index, a number of ASEAN countries continue to improve infrastructure such as airports, road travel infrastructure, hospitality in serving, and price competitiveness. However, there are several phenomena, namely the fact of the increasingly expensive cost of living in major cities in Asia and statements from some state officials who deny the importance of improving the quality of airports, road travel infrastructure, and hospitality. This type of research is descriptive and explanatory research, with the population of countries incorporated in ASEAN. After simple random sampling, panel data was obtained in the form of anumber of countries and time periods to be processed using multivariable regression. The results of this study have succeeded in answering the existing phenomenon, where statistically it has been proven that the existence of airports, land transportation, as well as the atmosphere or aura of hospitality and friendship proxied with the happiness index will increase the competitiveness of tourism. The novelty of this study is the discovery of a model of similarities that proves the existence of a positive and significant relationship between a country's happiness index and the competitiveness index of tourism and country travel. Another important finding is that the price elasticity of demand for travel and tourism in the ASEAN region has turned out to be inelastic, in other words, price competition is no longer the main thing in competing.
