- Batik is one of Indonesia’s masterpieces, and the whole world has recognized the existence of batik. UNESCO has been set batik as an Indonesian cultural heritage, namely as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity on October 2, 2009. Batik has many types of features and meanings, and and applied in interior design. This qualitative article uses a cultural study approach that is supported by the exploration of literature. This research has a contribution in giving ideas in the application of various meanings of Parang motifs into spatial elements, besides that it provides the view that batik is not only a piece of decorative cloth but also has many profound implications that can become the identity of the Indonesian nation.
