- This study is an initial research in analyzing the supply chain of contraceptive in private sector in West Java. The aim of this study is to analyze the situation and conditions of the supply chain in terms of the use and procurement of contraceptive by private sector. This study was conducted in three cities and three districts in West Java Province. The approach used is field survey with descriptive approach. Target respondents of this study are pharmaceutical wholesaler, healthcare provider, pharmacies, and couples of childbearing age. The sampling technique used is nonprobability sampling with purposive sampling, quota sampling, and incidental sampling. Processing data was performed with SPSS version 21 and in-depth analysis of qualitative data. The results of this research showed the demand and supply of contraceptives in private sector. Couples of childbearing age respondents showed demographic factors, usage patterns on contraceptive, and their perceptions of health facility’s service on private sector. From healthcare provider respondents, obtained sales patterns and inventory system in managing contraceptions in private sector. And pharmaceutical wholesalers showed informations about contraception distribution channels in private sector. Research recommendations were directed at practical suggestions as steps to improve supply chain performance of contraceptives distribution and ways of meeting demand for contraceptives in private sector in West Java.
