  • Many theories have been developed recently about aging. Aging is suggested to be associated withfree radical. Free radical is estimated to makeprogressive changes which are accumulated with age. Free radical has uncoupled electron which is unstable and reactive, such as superoxide (Oi), nitrit oxide (NO), lipid peroxide (LOO) and hydroxyl radical (OH). Basically, our body cell has defense to against free radical by superoxide dismutase enzym (SOD), catalase dan g/utathione peroxidase, and antioxidant. Yet,free radical will increase and be dangerous when there is infection, chronic inflammation, stress hypermetabolic, trauma and sepsis. Thus, it is needed supplementation to cover the need of antioxidant Manyplants were known to have antioxidant activity, such as: garlic, grape seed, green tea and turmeric.
