  • The purpose of this research in increase activity and student learning outcomes in social studies subject of the struggle for Indonesian independence through the application of problem-based learning model. This research was conducted because of the low value of student learning outcomes in the subject. Subjects in this study were 39 students. Data collection techniques were used that test, observation, field notes, interviews, and documentation. While the instrument used for data collection which tests students' learning outcomes in the form of a matter of evaluation and observation sheet. The results showed an increase in activity also led to increased student learning outcomes. In the first cycle the percentage of student activity reached 67%, while in the second cycle the percentage of student activity increased to 100%. The percentage of student learning outcomes in the first cycle is 71.8% with an average value of 64.23%, while the percentage of the results of the test on the second cycle has risen 94.88%. Results of the study after learning process classified by categories with indicators of success, reaching a value above KKM that exceeds 80%. So the conclusions that can be drawn from this study that with the implementation of problem-based learning model can improve the activity and student learning outcomes in social.
