  • The commercial sex industry has become a cliche phenomenon in the world. In feudal times women were used as commodities to measure the wealth of a King. The existence of commercial sex industry is still real in some areas in Indonesia without exception in Serang City. Sex industry in Serang City is not allowed so there is a ban through policy. This research was conducted to know the power relation in commercial sex industry phenomenon in Serang City. The research blades of this study use Foucault's power relation theory and commodity theory of Fairclough and Nussbaum. This research method is qualitative descriptive. Data analysis technique used Cresswell’s model phenomenology data analysis. The results of this study indicate that there are women who commoditized themselves by selling their bodies in the sex sector for commercialization. The existence of the sex industry can not be separated from networks between actors involved in power relations. The actors have related power relations. So, there is a pattern of relations and the formation of power maps in the commercial sex industry in Serang City. Keywords: Commercial Sex Industry, Commodification, Power Relation
