- The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of respondents and the effectiveness of interpersonal communication of farmers in farmer groups, to analyze the level of participation of farmers in farmer groups, to analyze the relationship of the effectiveness of farmers' interpersonal communication to the level of participation of farmers in farmer groups. The research method used in this study is descriptive method with quantitative approach, and survey. The location of this study was chosen with certain considerations, namely deliberately (purposive) that is the location taking based on the characteristics or characteristics of the population that have been known beforehand and adapted to the research objectives. Data analysis used in this study is the analysis of validity test, reliability test and Spearman rank correlation test. Based on the results of the study the effectiveness of interpersonal communication of farmers in farmer groups includes several components, namely openness, empathy, supportive attitudes, positive attitudes and equality into the good category. The level of participation of farmers in the farmer group at the decision-making stage, at the implementation stage of the activity, at the monitoring and evaluation stage, at the utilization stage is in the good category. The relationship between the effectiveness of farmers' interpersonal communication to the level of farmer participation is a significant relationship with a correlation value of 0.638 with a two-way test (2-tailed) and with a level of 5%.
